Gallery of Modern Art:
Feast the senses on the exhibitions displayed here. Most displays are free and fun for the whole family. Architecture is magnificent and there is room to roam about freely.

Queensland Art Gallery:
Spend hours enjoying the lovely gardens and paintings here. Escape here on a hot day and drink at one of their cafes. It’s great for ones with limited mobility and it is close to public transportation.

Museum of Brisbane:
This museum tells the story of how the city came to be. The exhibits change from time to time and there are hands-on activities that will educate and entertain children for hours.

Visit Historic Houses

Miegunyah House:
Built more than 130 years ago, The Queensland Women’s Historical Association saved this beautiful house from demolition. It now serves as a museum dedicated to women who pioneered living in those difficult times.

Newstead House:
It is believed to be the oldest house in Brisbane. It was built by Andrew Petrie, one of the first free settlers in Australia. Throughout the 170 years of its existence it housed many interesting persons.

Old Government House:
With historical political significance, this house was where the first 11 governors of Queensland were housed. It even held a ball.

Wolston House:
This early homestead preserves what life would have like for the early settlers in the area.

Go for a Walkabout

City Hopper:
Explore the river and the city for free on the City Hopper ferry. For those with plenty of time and wanting to take great pictures of the city, this is a great way to get to know Brisbane. It stops at all major Brisbane locations. If the weather is very hot or rainy, take the ferry with a covered top deck.

CityCat Ferry:
There is no better way to explore the river and the city than going on the CityCat Ferry. It is public transport, so the prices are affordable to go on romantic rides up and down the river.

Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary:
Not only does it have a koala sanctuary, it also houses many of Australia’s unique animals. People can hold koalas, feed kangaroos, and pet the emus under the supervision of staff. There is a 5-hectare kangaroo reserve.

Roma Street Parkland:
A little oasis in the concrete jungle, it used to be a wasted industrial area. Now it was been transformed into a beautiful paradise. Spend quality time with your family and picnic at this beautiful park. Barbecues and picnic tables are available in some spots of the park. Children can enjoy the playground and all can explore the different garden zones.

Mount Coot-tha Lookout:
It’s a nice climb up the lookout with spectacular Brisbane views at the top. For those not wanting to do the steep walk or cycle, a bus can be taken to the top. Coffee and ice cream are available at a cafe there. It is easily accessible, and there is free parking.

Story Bridge Adventure Club:
To get an even more breathtaking view of Brisbane, climb safely up the Story Bridge with great guides. A rare bridge that allows climbing, it offers the adventure of a lifetime.
