FAQs
Payment & Pricing
How long is my quotation valid for?
Can you do onsite quotes?
In certain instances we certainly can!
Can i obtain a fixed quote for my move?
Do i have to pay a deposit to secure my booking?
When do i have to pay for the work that is done?
Payment for local (Brisbane & surrounds) moves is required in full at completion of the move (minus the deposit amount already paid). The amount outstanding for interstate moves, is required to be made at completion of the uplift.
Do i have to pay for the time it takes for the trucks to arrive at my house from their depot and back again?
We have a fixed travel charge based on your pickup and drop off suburb & their distance from our depot. This travel charge is fixed (so you won’t be charged if we get stuck in unexpected traffic on the way to or from your move) and outlined in your quote.
How do you calculate the moving fee?
For interstate moves, the moving cost is based on the m3 of space required for the goods to be moved and travel times.
How do i pay my bill?
What is your cancellation policy?
For interstate moves, 14 days notice is required for full refund of your deposit paid.
Preparation
Where can i get information about how to prepare for my removal?

Is there anything i have to do to prepare appliances such as washing machine, fridge before the removal?
Ideally, if you have the transit bolts that came with your washing machine, you would insert them prior to your removalists arriving. This will prevent the internal portion of the washing machine from moving around. Your fridge needs to be emptied prior to our arrival (but it can be switched off right before we arrive to keep some cold inside) and we would recommend leaving in its new spot for a minimum of 2 hours before turning it back on.
What do i do in the case of dual/double property settlement?
If both your existing and new homes are settling on the same day it is never easy, but as it can be a regular occurrence, it is something we have mastered at Brisk! Let your friendly salesperson know if this is the case for you, and we will give you the appropriate suggestions to ensure that your move runs as smoothly as possible on the day.
How much notice do brisk need upon booking?
We always recommend calling us with us much notice as possible to ensure truck availability on your preferred date and time.
For local Brisbane moves, 2-4 weeks is ideal and for interstate moves 4 weeks+.
In saying that however, if you require a last minute booking and we have the space available, we will happily book it in for you.
How much notice will brisk give us before arriving?
A member of our friendly operations team will call you with at least 30 minutes’ notice of our exact arrival time at your pickup address.
Can i pack my own boxes?
How should i pack my effects, if brisk has not quoted to pack?
Brisk can provide you with packing materials if required. It is important that you have sturdy boxes (moving specific boxes are made of a much thicker material that holds its shape when stacked), packing tape, packing paper/newspaper for wrapping the more delicate items & marking pens (it is important to label each box so that your removalists can pop your boxes in to their specific rooms at the drop off address).
- Keep all important documents/valuable/delicate items (jewellery/laptops etc.) with you in your car/on the plane rather than sending them in the truck.
- Pack one room at a time, grouping similar items in boxes together.
- Place heavier items in the smaller boxes (these are called book boxes if you are purchasing moving-specific boxes), or on the bottom of the box if you are using larger ones.
- Label each box carefully with the room it is to go into and the rough contents (nothing worse than needing something and not remembering which box it is in!)
Where can i get packing materials?
Click here to visit our box shop! If you are not in Brisbane, you can purchase high quality moving boxes from your local storage facility! Contact us for a suggestion of one nearby to you.
Can i pack some items, and brisk pack the rest?
I don’t have time to pack, can you pack for me?
If you are in Brisbane we certainly can! If not, we can certainly recommend someone that can. Ask your friendly salesperson about our pre packing service.

Can i help move?
How should tvs be packaged?
Please ensure that all TVs are packed into a box, or you have used sufficient protection on the screen, as TVs are very easily damaged, and cannot be covered for replacement.
I want to take out insurance for the move, do i have to take it out with your provider?
Will my home & contents policy cover the move or storage of my goods?
Sometimes, it is best to check with your provider.
Do you provide transit insurance, what does it cover?
Transit insurance is a special type of insurance that protects against damage and loss during transit and Brisk do provide total loss Transit Insurance in the event of an overturned vehicle. But just as you need to protect your belongings from loss whilst they are in your home, you also need to protect them throughout the moving process and whilst Brisk will take the utmost care of your effects, there are circumstances outside of our control that may put your belongings at risk and we advise that you also purchase removals insurance for your moving day. We recommended Carts Removal Insurance.
services
what size are your trucks?
Our local Brisbane trucks range in size from 24m3-56m3 in capacity (2.5-12 tonnes).
For our interstate moves we use container trucks equipped with a 20” container (with 38m3 capacity) and an overflow box with 12m3 in capacity.
can i get a full-service move, including packing & dismantling/reassembling items?
For all of our moves we have the ability to dismantle & reassemble items for you (please mention this to your friendly salesperson when booking so that your removalists arrive with the appropriate tools, or keep the appropriate allen keys out if you have them).
We are able to offer a pre-packing and unpacking service in Brisbane; if you are in Melbourne we can refer you to a great company to help with this.
do you do corporate/office moves?
We certainly do, ask your friendly salesperson for a quote!
can your removalists handle bulky items?
They certainly can! If you have anything that is really large, heavy or awkward to move, make sure you mention it to your salesperson for confirmation that we are able to move it. Some items like pianos require specialised equipment to be moved, and we want to make sure that your removalists arrive fully equipped.
Particularly heavy items like pianos, pool tables, large statues/pot plants etc. can incur a heavy lift charge but this will be discussed with you when you receive your quote.
can i move my plants?
Locally (within Brisbane & surrounds) we can certainly move your plants (provided they are not too heavy to lift). If you are moving interstate, it is important to check the state specific rules: Click this link and enter your to & from suburbs for state specific restrictions in place.
when moving interstate, is my furniture sent by truck or rail?
does it stay in the same truck/container between pick up and drop off?
can i move food?
Food is something that we would recommend you taking in the car with you if possible. If you fill an esky, point this out to your removalists on the day and they can place this on the truck last for you. We are unable to move food that is open.
can you move my piano or pool table?
We have the capacity to move certain pianos and pool tables, but due to their extreme weight and delicate nature we will only allow our staff to move them in certain circumstances (ie. access at each end of the move). This will incur an additional heavy lift charge. Please mention to your salesperson if you have a pool table/piano to be moved and they will be able to determine if we can move it (if not, we can certainly recommend someone that can!).
how would you handle precious and delicate items?
Delicate items need to be considered on a case by case basis due to the sheer fact that even a protective blanket can sometimes be too heavy to wrap around an item and can cause damage. Items of this nature should be bubble wrapped as part of the pre-packing process before the team arrives to move you.
will you move me all in one day?
Absolutely – 99% of our moves are achieved in less than one day. In fact it would take an incredibly large volume of goods or large distance for a job to not be completed in the one day.
what if it doesn’t fit in one load?
Your salesperson will ask you many questions & check your pickup property on google maps to determine how large your move is & whether it will fit in the one load. If we think it is possibly not going to all fit, we will usually recommend sending out two trucks & four men to get the move completed quickly for you.
If for some reason on the day it doesn’t all fit, we will either send another truck out to you if available, or your truck will go back for a second load. Rest assured, we will get the move completed for you regardless!
what items are you unable to move?
Unfortunately we are unable to move commercial fridges, items over 100kg (unless they meet specific criteria), flammable items (gas bottles, fuels, oils, paint) or food that is open.
will the removalists dismantle and/or reassemble the beds for me?
what if i have a problem with my removalists on the day?
They certainly can! Just make sure you mention that you require help with this when booking so that your removalists bring the appropriate tools on the move day. If you happen to have the allen keys handy that go with the furniture items, this always saves time on the move day!
why have i been given a window rather than a set arrival time?
We would rather give you a window arrival time than guarantee a start time that we can’t definitely meet, particularly if we are attending a job before yours. The arrival time can sometimes depend on how long the move before you takes, or even traffic. We will however, always give you at least 30 minutes’ notice of our exact arrival time within that window and can give you an update if you give us a call on the day.
do you work on weekends or public holidays?
We are available to complete your move on Monday-Saturday, with the exception of public holidays.
i don’t need a truck, can i just order removalists?
do you move interstate?
Yes, we complete moves from Brisbane to Melbourne, and also from Melbourne to Brisbane every Monday-Saturday.
how far out of brisbane/melbourne will you travel?
For our local Brisbane moves, we will happily travel up to 300km from our base in Geebung for a pickup or delivery.
For our interstate moves, we will happily travel within a 200km radius of our base in Geebung (Brisbane) and Clayton South (Melbourne).
If you are moving further, be sure to enquire with us as we may be able to help! It’s more on a case by case basis based on availability at the time of booking.
do you have a ute available for moves?
We do have a Brisk ute that can be hired in addition to your move (sometimes they can be required for trickier access at apartment buildings etc.). Speak to your salesperson about this requirement and they will add it into your quote!
